We discussed how we could take laminate, a humble and ubiquitous surface, and show it in a new and design-led application. These conversations led us to the idea that collaborating with leading architects could really flex the product to show its beauty, functionality and design flexibility.

Our longstanding relationship with Kennedy Nolan made the respected architectural practice the ideal partner for this campaign. We knew they inherently understood the brief, the brand and our shared ambition. Laminex is an iconic Australian manufacturer with deep heritage, so it was important that the campaign and each space expressed a distinctly Australian sensibility.

Working closely with Laminex, we briefed in three spaces: a richly coloured compact kitchen, a contemporary commercial workspace and an expansive family kitchen. True to their philosophy of creating highly individual designs shaped by context, Kennedy Nolan responded directly to the material—pushing its boundaries and elevating an everyday product into a defining architectural feature.

The resulting spaces by Laminex and Kennedy Nolan have inspired both architects and homeowners, achieving our intent to showcase laminate in a new and compelling light. The campaign launched with the Kennedy Nolan Expansive Kitchen on The Design Files, including a film by Sirap, and continued across print and digital channels from August 2020 to 2021.
