Thames and Hudson briefed us to create a rich and layered look and feel for The Venice Book. Inspired by the city’s architecture, waterways and the Biennale we created a rich collision of texture and colour. This created a distinct aesthetic, but also aided in the organisation of content.
Typography and illustration were used to create a clear hierarchy of information, making sure that travel tips and key ideas stood out in amongst paragraphs of body copy. In this way, the book is designed so that the reader could experience it on a number levels – as a beautiful visual piece, a bite size-travel guide or as an in-depth read into Venice and the Biennale.
